Caleta Abarca Beach

This is the most central and popular beach in the city. It is a bay that is enclosed by Mt Recreo and on the south side by the Convent and Church of the Capuchins that seems to be perching precariously on the cliff. With its "back to the beach" is Mt Castillo.

Miramar Beach or De los Artistas Beach ("Artists' Beach")

In the early 20th century, this was the only beach receiving bathers. This is where Doctor Von Schoroeders' famous bathhouses existed. In 1935 the beach began to be eaten away by changes in undersea currents, caused by the building of the mole or protecting pier (a massive wall or dyke to deflect the ocean) in the port of Valparaiso.

Reñaca Resort

This is one of the most popular and commercially developed beaches in Viña del Mar. It originated in 1905, when the heir of the city's founder, Salvador Vergara Alvarez, formed the Montemar real estate agency to develop Reñaca. However the layout of the city was only completed in 1912. Some time afterward, the first houses were built along Vicuña Mackenna and Balmaceda streets.

Sand dunes and a beautiful 1.3 kilometer-long beach make this one of the main beaches of Viña del Mar, with its hotels and motels, restaurants, coffeehouses, and its numerous discotheques which spice up its evenings.
