Natural
History Museum of Valparaiso
Exhibits anthropological and natural science collections. It contains a specialized reference library and organizes temporary exhibitions on its premises. It occupies the ancient Lyon PAlace, an architectural "jewel" in Valparaiso, which was reputedly built in 1881. Municipal Fine Arts Museum
Its halls contain works by renowned artists such as the Frenchmen Rousseau and Boudin, the Dutchman Jengkine and the Chileans Valenzuela Puelma, Camilo Mori, Pachecho Altamirano, Juan Francisco Gonzalez, Pedro Lira and Cosme San Martin. Its premises are considered to be a Historical Monument. It is, in fact, an old colonial mansion built in 1842 by the Englishman John Muat, who built Chile's first observatory. Valparaiso Municipal Art Gallery
During the whole year it offers interesting exhibitions. It is located in the underground section of the Lyon Palace, which in itself is an architectural attraction due to the beauty of its vaulting and its stone and brick walls. La Sebastiana House Museum
This was the home of Chilean bard Pablo Neruda (1904-1973), Nobel Prize for literature in 1971, who used to spend New Year enjoying the view of Valparaiso and mixing cocktails for his friends.
The home originally belonged to the Spaniard Sebastian Collado. On his death, his heirs abandoned the building, which was saved from oblivion by the poet, who refurbished it and occupied it in 1961.
Since 1992 the house functions as a museum, distilling the essence of Pablo Neruda. Address: Ferrari 692 (Avenida Alemana at 6900)

Naval and Maritime Museum
It possesses important relics that tell about the history of the Chilean Navy from 1818 to 1880. The seat of the Museum was the Chilean Navy School until 1967, when the last Naval ceremony took place there. Mirador de Lukas House Museum
A cultural center which holds chats, exhibitions and cinema cycles all year round. It contains a painting restoration laboratory.
This "house museum" commemorates Renzo Pecchenino ("Lukas"), a journalist, cartoonist and publicist who reflected the idiosyncrasy of the inhabitants of Valparaiso in his drawings.
