In general, the Valparaiso region presents a varied climate, depending on the geographical area. On the coast, the weather is temperate, in the Cordillera it is quite cold, and in the central sector it gets hot.

The city of Valparaiso has a sub-tropical climate, with an average temperature of 20° Celsius. The coldest months are July and August, although the winter is mild, thanks to the sea breeze that blows through the Valley of Aconcagua. The rainy season is in May.

HOW TO GET TO VALPARAISO

Getting to Valparaiso is quite easy. Due to its closeness to Santiago -115 kilometros- it is easily accessible overland. The trip lasts one and a half hours, and a large number of buses cover the route, making things easier. An alternative option is renting a car in Santiago and taking Ruta 68. You will get there faster.

The city also has an airport, Mataveri International Airport, some 20 kilometers to the north, catering for all kinds of aircraft. Lan Chile has regular flights here from Santiago and Papeete (Tahiti); as well, in the high season (December through April), European cruisers dock at the port.
