EMERGENCIES
If you
should suffer any mishap during your stay in Chile,
the following numbers may be called to obtain guidance or assistance
with your problem:
Ambulance service: 131
Fire Brigade: 132
Carabineros (Chilean police): 133
Drug Enforcement: 135
Andean Mountain Rescue Squad: 136
Sea Rescue: 137
Likewise, in the event of any emergency it is advisable for the traveler to contact his/her embassy or consulate, which is there to give him the necessary advice and support with his problem (see Item "Embassies and Consulates").
For any further orientation, you may approach the "Servicio Nacional
de Turismo de Chile - Sernatur" (Chilean National
Tourism Organization), a government entity with branches in all
the main cities, and based in Santiago at 1550 Providencia street,
at the Manuel Montt subway station exit; there is also a branch
of this entity at the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez or Pudahuel
International Airport of Santiago. Timetable: Mondays through Fridays
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Phone: 00-56-2-6019320.
