1. HIKE TO LAKE GREY’S PENINSULA
Duration: 3.5 to 4 hours (Half a day), 2 to 2.5 hours hiking.
Distance: 5km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van towards Guarderia Grey (40 min). Cross on foot of the suspension bridge over Rio Pingo. Hike across forests of lengas and then across the beach and Lake Grey’s Peninsula. View of the Glacier Grey and icebergs by the beach. Return by van to Explora (40 min).
Intensity: Easy.

2. HIKE TO VANTAGE POINT OF NORDENSKJÖLD
Duration: 3 hours (half a day), 2.5 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 6km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (10 min) towards Pudeto Refuge. Hike by the shores of Lake Pehoé going through Salto Grande and bound for the massif until reaching the Vantage Point of Lake Nordenskjöld; a place with a spectacular view of the Valle del Frances, Massif of Paine Grande and Los Cuernos. Note: Occasional strong winds.
Intensity: Easy.

3. HIKE TO VANTAGE POINT DEL TORO
Duration: 2 hours (half a day), 1.5 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 3.5 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) towards Puente Weber. Hike ascending 100 m until reaching the Vantage Point Del Toro. Birdwatching, local fauna and elements characteristic of the regional aquatic flora, views of Lake Toro and Rio Serrano flanked by great mountains of the Andean range, such as Cerro Ferrier, Cerro Donoso and others. Return by van to Explora (15 min.).
Intensity: Easy.

4. HIKE THROUGH THE CORNICES
Duration: 3 to 3.5 hours (half a day), 3 to 3.5 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 6.5km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora. Hike ascending 250 m that ends at the cornices with a view of the massif, mountains of the southeast, Vantage Point of the Condors and the Lakes Pehoé and Nordenskjöld. The path continues through the cornices, with small lagoons and forests above the Paine River, with a background view of Sierra Prat, Pampas del Serrano and Lake Toro; then downhill through La Feria Ravine.
Note: Occasional strong winds.
Intensity: Medium.

5. HIKE TO LAKE SARMIENTO
Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours (half a day), 2 to 2.5 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 4 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (20 min) passing by the Lagunas Mellizas (Twin Lagoons). The hike leads to the shores of Lake Sarmiento, which has beautiful calcium formations on its shores. Possible sights of herds of guanacos and different birds; there is also an ample variety flora in the spring season. View of Lake Sarmiento in its entire extension. Return by van (20 min).
Intensity: Easy.

6. HIKE TO RIO PINGO
Duration: 4 to 5 hours (half a day), 2.5 to 3 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 8km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (40 min) up to Guarderia Lake Grey. A pretty even terrain that follows the strong Rio Pingo of glacial waters across open prairies and ends at the waterfall of the Rio de los Salmones (River of the Salmon). There is a great variety of birds and exuberant vegetation. Return to Guarderia Grey, and then by van (40 min).
Intensity: Easy.

7. HIKE TO VANTAGE POINT OF THE CONDORS
Duration: 2 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 4 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora on foot; hike with ample view of the park, thus allowing the observation of different plants and bird species. Climb 250 m to the Vantage Point of the Condors to then descend towards Lake Pehoé and return. Note: Occasional strong winds.
Intensity: Medium.

8. HIKE TO VANTAGE POINT FERRIER
Duration: 4 hours (half a day), 3 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 7 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (40 min) up to Guarderia Lake Grey.
Ascending hike climbing 550 m up to the Vantage Point Ferrier, with beautiful vegetation on the way and the chance of watching huemules (Andean deer), ancient forest of lengas and spectacular panoramic view of the massif from the eastern flank and of the Valle del Pingo; vistas of Lakes Grey, Pehoé, Nordenskjöld and Sarmiento. Return by van (40 min).
Note: Occasional strong winds.
Intensity: Demanding.

9. HIKE THROUGH THE TRAIL OF THE AONIKENK
Duration: 3 to 4 hours (half a day), 2.5 to 3.5 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 7.5 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (30 min) towards Guarderia Lake Sarmiento. Northbound hike by the limits of the park with a moderate ascension of 150m; the exploration allows touring an open landscape with panoramic views. There are remains of rock paintings on the rocky walls made by the Aonikenk, primitive inhabitants of the region; abundant guanacos too; gradual descent to Guarderia Laguna Amarga. Return by van (35 min).
Intensity: Easy.

10. HIKE OF FLORA, FAUNA AND BIRDS
Duration: 3 hours (half a day).
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van up to the Estancia El Quincho, emphasizing the photographic aspect and the knowledge of the park’s flora and fauna. It is possible to watch a numerous and varied fauna on the way: guanacos, rheas, condors, foxes, skunks, ducks, geese, and in general a variety of bird species, especially in the spring; view of Los Cuernos and Torres del Paine, Cerro Almirante Nieto and the waterfalls of Rio Paine. Return by van (1 hour).
Intensity: Easy.

11. HIKE AT LAGUNA AZUL
Duration: 4 to 5 hours (half a day), 2 to 3 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 8km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van up to the Estancia El Quincho (1 hour). Hike from the northeaster extreme of the Laguna Azul alongside the north shore up to the Vantage Point Torres del Paine. Forests of lengas and Antarctic beech and vistas of Torres del Paine and Laguna Azul with abundant flora and birds from the region; it can be taken before or after the roast beef at the Estancia El Quincho.
Intensity: Easy.

FULL DAY EXCURSIONS

12. HIKE TO GLACIER GREY
Duration: 10 to 11 hours (full day), 4 to 6 hours hiking.
Distance: 12km.
Itinerary: Departure on motorboat from Explora (30 min). Hike from the Refuge of Pehoé up to the Refuge of Grey with view of the Glacier Grey, icebergs in Lake Grey, Campos de Hielo Sur, Andean Cordillera, Massif of Paine Grande and Olguín Range. Picnic lunch by the glacier. Return navigating across Lake Grey (2 hours) approaching the glacier walls.
Note: The tour on motorboat always depends of the weather conditions.
Intensity: Medium.

13. HIKE TO THE HEIGHTS OF LAKE DEL TORO
Duration: 5 to 6 hours (full day).
Distance on foot: 12km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (10 min.) towards La Feria Ravine. Ascending hike of 250 m with a view of the Massif of Paine and Rio Paine; continues across inner valleys with lagoons and lenga forests. Picnic lunch. The trail continues up to the heights of Lake del Toro with a spectacular 360 degree view of the park; descent towards Puente Weber. Return to Explora by van (15 min).
Intensity: Medium.

14. HIKE TO LAGUNA LA CAL / SARMIENTO
Duration: 7 hours (full day), 6 to 7 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 17km.
Itinerary: Departure on foot from Explora through a trail leading to the Pass of Las Buitreras (condor nesting place) ascending 200 m; the trail passes through forests of native lengas and reaches Laguna La Cal, a special formation where the Patagonian wind can be usually appreciated; lacustrine fauna is abundant in the spring; impressive vista of Cuernos del Paine and Lake Sarmiento with its calcium formations. Return by van (20 min).
Intensity: Medium.

15. HIKE TO GLACIER ON VALLE DEL FRANCES
Duration: 7 to 8 hours (full day), 6 to 7 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 16km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora on motorboat (30 min) towards the Refuge of Pehoé; hike through the trail bordering Lake Pehoé and then Lake Skottsberg climbing up 150 m. Spectacular view of these lakes, Paine Grande and Cuernos del Paine; crossing of the suspension bridge over the Frances River to have a view of the Glacier del Frances, the main summit of Paine Grande and the Main and North Cuernos. Picnic lunch and return hiking up to the Refuge of Pehoé; return on motorboat to Explora (30 min). Note: The tour on motorboat always depends of the weather conditions.

16. HIKE TO THE BASE OF TORRES DEL PAINE
Duration: 10 to 11 hours (full day), 8 to 9 hours.
Distance on foot: 17km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (1 hour) towards the Estancia Cerro Paine. Hike ascending 350 m across the valley of the Ascencio River up to the Chilean Campsite; intermediate zone crossing centenarian forests of lenga and springs up to the Torres Campsite; ascension with a view through moraine to the vantage point, from the lagoon up to Torres del Paine (350 m above). Picnic lunch and return hiking up to the Estancia Cerro Paine, with a view of the multi-colored lagoons. Return by van to Explora (1 hour). Note: this exploration requires a significant physical effort.
Intensity: Demanding.

17. HIKE TO THE VALLEY OF THE PINGO RIVER
Duration: 10 to 11 hours (full day), 8 to 9 hours hiking.
Distance on foot: 21 km.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (40 min) towards Guarderia Grey. Hike through an almost even terrain that follows the strong Pingo River of glacial waters through open steppes and exuberant vegetation; pass of the Rio de los Salmones (River of the Salmon) and a gentle 200 m ascension; native forest of lengas, view of the Paine Grande and waterfall of Pingo River. Picnic lunch and return hiking up to Guarderia Grey. Return to Explora by van (40min).

Horse Rides

HORSE RIDES AT THE ESTANCIA EL QUINCHO
Horse rides in the sector of the Laguna Azul begin at the Estancia El Quincho, an hour away from Explora by van, and other estancias in the zone are toured. The rides are designed for people with experience on horseback and who feel safe trotting and galloping.

18. HORSE RIDE IN EL QUINCHO
Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours on horseback (half a day).
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van up to El Quincho (1 hour); from El Quincho we set off crossing forests of Antarctic beech and lenga, with views of the Sierra Baguales, River of Las Chinas, Mount Almirante Nieto, Torres del Paine and Mount Nido de Condores; passing through the Estancia Laguna, vehicle from Guarderia Grey to Explora (40 min); hiking to Laguna Azul and return to El Quincho bordering the River Las Chinas. Note: It can be taken before or after the roast beef at the Estancia El Quincho.
Intensity: Easy.

19. HORSE RIDE TO THE ESTANCIA 2 DE ENERO
Duration: 3 hours on horseback (half a day).
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van up to the Estancia El Quincho (1 hour). Crossing of the Zamora River on horseback passing through the sectors of pampas, Laguna Jara and arriving in the Estancia 2 de Enero at the foot of Mount Obelisco, deep ravine of the Zamora River; chance to watch condors and eagles, vistas of the Sierra Baguales and Torres del Paine. Note: It requires real previous experience on horseback. It can be taken before or after the roast beef at the Estancia El Quincho.

20. HORSE RIDE TO THE ESTANCIA SANTA GEMITA
Duration: 2 hours on horseback (half a day).
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van up to the Estancia El Quincho (1 hour). Crossing of the Zamora River on horseback, uphill and downhill across hills surrounding El Quincho until reaching the Estancia Santa Gemita; return through zones of cliffs; chance of sighting condors and eagles; spectacular views of Torres del Paine and the Laguna Azul. It can be taken before or after the roast beef at the Estancia El Quincho.
Intensity: Medium.

HORSE RIDES
The horse rides detailed below, contrary to those setting off from the Estancia El Quincho, set off from the stables of Explora located 15 minutes away from the hotel by van. These horse rides are mainly thought for people with previous experience on horseback and who feel safe riding for several hours on the pampas or in the mountains; people who know how to trot and/or gallop. We have the best Chilean and English saddles, leggings and hard hats.

21. HORSE RIDE TO VANTAGE POINT DONOSO
Duration: 6 hours (full day), 5 hours on horseback.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) to the stables; sinuous paths through forests, lagoons and pampas; vista of Mount Donoso in one of the less explored sectors in the park, and as such, one of untamed nature. Picnic lunch by Laguna Los Choros. Pampas, springs and exuberant flora are some of the attractions on this ride. Return by van (15 min).

22. HORSE RIDE TO RIO SERRANO
Duration: 3 hours (half a day), 2 hours on horseback.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) to the stables; the ride begins crossing Pampa Serrano and the trail borders the deep turquoise waters of the Serrano River, with a view of Mount Balmaceda, covered by perpetual snow. Return across the golden prairies of Pampa Serrano, with a view of Cuernos del Paine. Return by van (15 min).
Intensity: Medium.

23. HORSE RIDE TO LAGUNA LINDA
Duration: 3 hours (half a day), 2 hours on horseback.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) to the stables; from there begins a northbound trail through steep mounts surrounded by burnt trees; view of Laguna Negra, Laguna Linda, Pampa of Administration, Paine River, Lake Toro, Cordillera Paine and the Andean range. Return by van (15 min).
Intensity: Easy.

24. HORSE RIDE TO THE REFUGE OF PEHOÉ
Duration: 4 hours (half a day), 3 hours on horseback.
Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) to the stables; the ride begins at the pampas nearby the stables bound for the Campsite of Las Carretas; view of Lake Grey and its icebergs. Picnic lunch in the area. The ride continues towards the Refuge of Pehoé with a spectacular view of the Paine Massif, Lake Pehoé and the Andean range. Return on motorboat from the Refuge of Pehoé (30 min).

25. HORSE RIDE BY THE HEIGHTS OF EL TORO

Itinerary: Departure from Explora by van (15 min) to the stables; the ride begins on the eastern riverbank of the Paine River towards La Feria Ravine; a ride ascending 250 m with vistas of the Paine Massif and the Paine River; continues through inner valleys with lagoons and forests of lengas; the trail continues up to the heights of Lake del Toro with a spectacular 360 degree view of the park; descent towards the Weber Bridge and then to the stables. Return to Explora by van (15 min).
