DAY 01: PUNTA ARENAS: Visit Parque Ñandú (Rhea Park)

The rhea is the symbol bird of the Magellan Region and being able to watch its behavior is an attraction that visitors can not miss. The Otway Estancia built Rhea Park to show these beautiful birds. The place is located 54 km north of Punta Arenas going partly along Route Nº 9 and then going inland for a further 6 km through the road that leads to Rio Verde. The offers us a complete vision of the whole breeding process of rheas, a kind of ostrich native to the Patagonia. The environment you will encounter is as natural as it can get and you will be able to interact with this singular bird following a duly designed pathway, where you can admire and learn about the different aspects of this beautiful species, such as their feeding, nesting and raising processes.
