Tour Description
DAY 01: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA – CALAMA: Visit Geysers of Tatio and Towns of the Altiplano
At dawn, (04:00 AM) we set off towards the Geysers of Tatio, a spectacular geothermic field located at 4,320 meters above sea level with cracks that expel thick columns of steam, with temperatures that reach up to 85° C. At dawn, when the temperatures drop below zero, the landscape becomes yet more amazing and the spurts can reach up to 7 meter heights. The phenomenon is produced by the contact between the cold subterranean river and the magma of the Volcano of Tatio. Breakfast in the place and the chance to take a bath in one of the thermae pools. We continue towards Caspana, a town in the cordillera that still preserves its ancestral traditions (old town, church). We continue towards the Pucara of Lasana where we will tour the ruins of a fortress destined to the protection of the fertile valley, the petroglyphs in the Valley of the Loa River, the Inca Coya Lagoon and the Church and Town of Chiu-Chiu. Return to Calama, estimated time of arrival: 16:00 hours. Transfer to the airport or the bus terminal of Calama.
