DAY 02: SANTIAGO: Visit to the city

Breakfast. . We begin our tour through the city’s colonial sector, where the O’Higgins Park and the Club Hipico (Racetrack), through the Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins Avenue we will reach the Presidential Palace La Moneda, nearby is the Justice Palace, the Main Square (Plaza de Armas), the old building Post Office, and alongside Mapocho River is the Cultural Center Estacion Mapocho and the Fine Arts Palace Museum at the side of Forest Park. We will leave the city center behind visiting Santa Lucia hill, the foundation site of Santiago city and the picturesque neighborhoods of Paris and Londres, to then access the modern business centers in the neighborhoods of Providencia and El Bosque and the elegant residential and commercial neighborhoods of Vitacura and Las Condes.

DAY 03: SANTIAGO- VIÑA DEL MAR AND VALPARAISO - SANTIAGO

Breakfast. In the morning we will initiate our visit to the City of Valparaiso, picturesque locality rich with an autochthonous architecture, inspiration to artists and poets, which has been declared Cultural patrimony of humanity by UNESCO; this city is located 120 km away from Santiago and in front of the Pacific Ocean.
During the trip we will be able to appreciate the impacting view of the wine-producing Valleys of Curacaví and Casablanca. The tour around the City of Valparaiso begins at the Prat Port, where we can watch the ceaseless activity in the port, standing at the side of the steep mountains through which streets and funiculars climb. The tour continues visiting the city’s most important squares, the Senate Building and lastly a stop at the Vantage Point 21 de Mayo allowing us a view of the city and Valparaiso bay.

After that we will visit the neighboring City of Viña del Mar, known as the “Garden City”; on our tour through this traditional beach resort we will be able to appreciate the beautiful residential neighborhoods from the early XX century, the monumental flowers clock, the Presidential Palace and Quinta Vergara with its beautiful gardens and amphitheater, where the popular Viña del Mar´s Song Festival takes place. Following the coastline we will reach the modern beach resort of Reñaca and the rather more traditional Con Con. We will stop on the way for lunch.
After that return to Santiago.

DAY 04: SANTIAGO - CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA: Visit to the Valle de la Luna (Moon valley)

Breakfast. Transfer to airport to take flight to Calama.
Arrival in Calama, reception and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, small town located at 98 km from Calama, at the foot of the Andean Mountain range and at the side of the great Atacama Salt Deposit.
In the afternoon we will visit the mythical Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), a scenery of curious geological formations dyed in white by the salt, which gives them a moonlike look. On the way we will stop to take pictures of the Salt Mountain range.. In Valle de la Luna we take a hike through different sectors, we visit the salt statues called “Las Tres Marias”, the mine and the cavers of salt, concluding at the huge Central Dune, where we watch the sunset and a panoramic view of the valley and the mountains surrounding San Pedro. Return to your hotel.

DAY 05: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA: Archaeological tour and Salt Deposit of Atacama

Breakfast. In the morning we will visit the Padre Le Paige Museum and the archaeological ruins located in the surroundings of San Pedro, through which we can appreciate the genesis and development of the Atacama Culture. We will visit the Pucara de Quitor, a fortress built in the XII century of our time, where the local culture stood to face the Spanish conquest. We will visit the ruins of the Village of Tulor, the first cultural remains in the zone dating back 2.800 years. Return to San Pedro through the Ayllu (Incan social and administrative center) of Sequitor.
In the afternoon we will visit Atacama Salt deposit, which is the largest salt deposit in Chile and the second largest in South America, after that of Uyuni (Bolivia).

On the way we will stop in the Town of Toconao, a traditional town built of liparite rocks, of volcanic origins. On the streets we can appreciate typical handicraft from the zone of Atacama (made of llama wool, alpaca wood, cactus and volcanic rock), besides San Lucas tower (National Monument and symbol of the town). Later we will visit the quarries of liparite rock and Jerez Valley.
We continue towards salt deposit, at 2,305 meters above sea level; an endless white, rough mantle of salt, stained by the fine dust of the desert, under which there is a large lake that emerges to the surface in the form of small lagoons that contain an interesting variety of wildlife, with pink flamingoes, one of the three species of these birds who have their habitat in the high mountain range. We will watch the sunset at the side of Chaxa Lagoon to then return to San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 06: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA: Visit Geysers of Tatio

At dawn (04:00 AM) we will travel towards Tatio Geysers, a spectacular geothermic field located at 4,320 meters above sea level, with cracks that expel thick columns of steam with temperatures reaching up to 85° C. At daybreak, when temperatures drop below zero, the landscape becomes even more amazing and the spurts can reach 7 m of height. The phenomenon is produced by the contact between the cold subterranean river and the magma of Tatio Volcano. Breakfast in the place and the opportunity to take a bath in the thermal Waters pool. After that we will visit Machuca town, located 50 kilometers northeast of San Pedro de Atacama and at a height of 4.000 meters. Its houses made with adobe, as well as its church, which is built with the same traditional material, have been refurbished. This settlement in Atacama bases its economy on pasturing and traditional farming. Return to San Pedro de Atacama at noon.

Breakfast. At according time transfer to Calama airport to take your returning flight to Santiago City. Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to your hotel.
