Located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, south of the tropic of Capricorn,
Easter Island features a sub-tropical
climate influenced by winds and ocean currents, and an annual average temperature of 20°Celsius.
In summer, the maximum temperature may reach 28°Celsius and the minimum may fall to 15°C. February is the hottest month, whereas in winter (June to August), temperatures range between 14°C and 22°C.
On the
island, also called "Rapa Nui Island", rain falls steadily throughout the year, although showers are only sporadic and last a short time. May is the month with the heaviest rainfall.
