CHILOE
LODGING
Sleeping
in a luxury hotel or waking in a "thousand-star"
hostel (an island camping ground) - both these alternatives are
possible in Chiloe (De los Lagos Region)
offer a wide range of possibilities, from lodging of the local architecture
variety to windblown tents, through bungalows and cabins.
In Castro -the capital of the province of Chiloe-
travelers can stay at a hotel or on a palafito "water-dwelling",
sleeping literally on the sea in the latter case, and enjoying the
unique experience of an overnight stay in a house built on pillars
embedded in the seafloor.
Generally speaking, in Isla Grande cities there are hotels,
bungalows, inns, palafitos and campsites (especially at
Ancud), that satisfy visitors' wishes and budgets.
