Sleeping in a luxury hotel or waking in a "thousand-star" hostel (an island camping ground) - both these alternatives are possible in Chiloe (De los Lagos Region) offer a wide range of possibilities, from lodging of the local architecture variety to windblown tents, through bungalows and cabins.

In Castro -the capital of the province of Chiloe- travelers can stay at a hotel or on a palafito "water-dwelling", sleeping literally on the sea in the latter case, and enjoying the unique experience of an overnight stay in a house built on pillars embedded in the seafloor.
