ADVENTURE TRAVEL IN CHILE
Adventure
Tourism is defined as the recreational tourist activity in which
the surroundings or natural environment are used to produce in the
Tourist certain emotions and feelings of discovery and exploration
as he practices sport activities which involve certain risks. In
Chile the Adventure Tourist will find the widest range of possibilities.
From north to south and from the cordillera to the sea, numerous adventure sports are practiced, in accordance with the geography and the surroundings of each of the regions: Mountain-biking, Parachuting, Hang-gliding, Surfing, Windsurfing, Rafting, Canyoning, Diving, Sport Fishing, Snowboarding, Sandboarding, Skiing and Trekking, among others.
The rivers in the south are a mandatory stop for adventure lovers who may get on a raft and challenge the imposing water current which flows like a furious and defying wave through the quiet and beautiful landscapes, with centenary trees and the sounds of the wild fauna.
The National Parks are an important destination to visit and enjoy nature, to reach the top of some of the peaks -always in the company of a qualified trekking guide- and to discover places one could never imagine they exist.
The beaches along the coast, mainly the ones in the central area, provide excellent conditions for the practice of Surfing and Windsurfing. Some of them host international competitions which attract specialists from all over the world.
In winter, skiing becomes the "star" adventure sport, mainly in the areas near Santiago and further south in Chillan, Pucón, Osorno and Punta Arenas. Ski runs with modern infrastructure together with nearby hotels, thermal waters and the highest standards of comfort, combine to offer the adventure sport tourists the possibility of having an incredible experience as they ski on an active volcano such as Pucón or Osorno, or slide down the only ski runs in the world which offer a view of the sea in Punta Arenas.
Thus Chile, with its inexhaustible variety of resources, provides the adventure tourist with the unique possibility of practicing in just one trip all the adventure sport disciplines in places of unparalleled beauty.
